About Affordable Air Inc.

Central AC Repair Company in Saint Amant, LA Near Me

Central AC repair in Louisiana is about humidity first. New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette sit in moist Gulf air for most of the year, and an AC that cools but does not dry the air leaves a house clammy and musty. Condensate lines clog with slime, drain pans overflow and float switches shut systems down on the hottest days. Our crew clears drains, checks refrigerant charge and airflow, and handles coil corrosion on units near the bayous and the coast.

Why call us for central AC repair

Why Saint Amant, LA Homeowners Call Us for Central AC Repair

Louisiana homeowners call us for central AC repair because humidity control matters as much as temperature. Louisiana is in the South efficiency region, so new systems carry a higher SEER2 minimum. Our crew checks charge and airflow so the coil dries the air, clears slimed drain lines, tests float switches and handles coil corrosion near the coast. We fix leaks before recharging, never the other way around.

Test before replace

We read capacitor values, winding resistance and amp draw before we call any part bad. A lot of dead compressors in Saint Amant, LA turn out to be a much cheaper part.

Parts on the truck

Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, fuses and float switches ride with our crew, so many central AC repair calls finish on the first visit.

Price before work

You get the repair price before we start. Nothing gets done without your say.

Honest repair or replace

On an older R-22 system we show you the repair cost next to the replacement cost and let you choose.

Leaks fixed, not topped off

We find the leak, repair it, pull a vacuum to 500 microns and weigh in the charge to the nameplate.

Spring AC tune up

An AC tune up covers coil cleaning, electrical tests and drain service so July stays quiet in Saint Amant, LA.

How a repair call works

Four steps to central AC repair in Saint Amant, LA

01

Call and describe it

Tell us what the system is doing: warm air, no power, ice on the lines, water in the pan. That narrows the list before our crew arrives in Saint Amant, LA.

02

We measure first

Our crew reads temperature split, refrigerant pressures, capacitor values and amp draw, so the diagnosis rests on numbers and not a guess.

03

Price before work

You get the repair price before we start. If a part costs more than the system is worth, we say so.

04

Test and walk through

After the repair we run the system, check the split again and show you what we found and what we fixed.

Central Ac Repair Saint Amant, LA FAQs

Central AC Repair FAQs

Common questions about central AC repair

Questions Saint Amant, LA homeowners ask about central AC repair, with plain answers.

Talk to our crew
How much does central AC repair cost?
It depends on the part. A capacitor or contactor is a small repair. A refrigerant leak or a compressor is a much bigger one. We diagnose first, then give you the price before any work starts, so you decide with the number in front of you.
Why is there ice on my AC lines?
Ice forms when the indoor coil gets too cold, usually from low airflow (dirty filter, dirty coil, weak blower) or low refrigerant charge. Turn cooling off and run the fan to thaw it, then call us. Running a frozen system can damage the compressor.
Can you just add refrigerant to my AC?
We can, but it rarely makes sense on its own. A central AC system is sealed, so low refrigerant means a leak. Topping it off without fixing the leak means the charge leaks out again. We find the leak, repair it and weigh in the correct charge.
How long does a central AC system usually last?
Many central air systems run 12 to 15 years with regular maintenance. Units near the coast, where salt air corrodes coils, and units in very long cooling seasons often wear out sooner. Age alone is not a reason to replace, but it factors into repair decisions.
What should I do before the technician arrives?
Check that the thermostat is set to COOL and below room temperature, check the breaker and the outdoor disconnect, and look at the filter. If there is ice, turn cooling off and run the fan. If there is a burning smell, shut the breaker off and leave it off.
